Avoid Harmful Toxins - Eat Well - Exercise & Cleanse
The numbers of potentially harmful chemicals in skin and body care products is
astounding. The rule of thumb is that if you cannot safely eat it, you should
not be putting it on our body as the skin absorbs everything you put on it.
Step 1: Avoid self poisoning
-
As you see in the detail if you click on the right image, many of the commercially available products we
use on our skin and hair are filled with potentially harmful toxins. Some of these toxins have been linked to
menstrual difficulties, birth defects and infertility, breast cancer, melanoma
premature ageing and other skin problems.
-
Skin is sensitive and it will react to harsh chemicals and irritants in different ways. The first symptoms are itching, irritation and changes in skin
colour. The secondary effects may include swelling and a change in skin texture.
-
what we usually do not see is the gradual and premature ageing of our skin. Life can continue as normal for many years with and then one day you look at the
mirror and realise that you're looking worse than you ever imagined possible.
-
If you are unsure about any product, do a spot test by putting a tiny amount on the inside of your forearm and leaving it for twenty-four hours before applying
any to your face or other sensitive area. If you see any reaction, you will know that this product could be harmful and you should not use it.
-
Products like Botox which in effect set the face in position, this overtime restricts circulation and causes premature ageing.

Step 2: Eat well
-
You are what you eat and therefore a good diet strengthens your immune system and reduces the likelihood of infections.
-
An organic diet with plenty of fresh fruits and veggies will give your body and skin the best chance of remaining healthy.
Step 3: Exercise
-
Working up a sweat tones your bodies muscular system and exercises your skin.
-
Our skin is flexible and by stretching and flexing it, it retains its elasticity better than if not exercised.
- When the skin is flexed and stretched, circulation of blood into the skin
is improved and the skin gets more nutrition from the food we eat.
Step 4: Rest and relaxation
-
Get enough sleep as a lack of sleep impairs your metabolism.
-
Complete relaxation allows the skin as well as the rest of the body to come to a point of equilibrium.
-
Some of us get enough natural relaxation, however the majority of us live in a high stress world and we never get to truly relax,
therefore some form of relaxation exercise like yoga is highly beneficial.
Step 5: Exfoliate
|

Wash with warm water and rinse with cold. |
-
The key to exfoliation is: longer, not harder!
-
Begin your day with a body brush; when you get up in the morning, have a quick stretch and brush your body down with a soft cloth or a brush to
remove accumulated dead skin cells.
Step 6: Cleanse
-
Wash your hands before touching your skin, especially your face.
-
Wash your body with your favourite
cleanser or soap, but don’t use anything with harsh chemicals in it since it might strip the good oils from your face and leave it dry.
-
If you are concerned about good skincare, you don't necessarily need to use any soap at all. Simply by having a shower and rubbing your skin with your hands
is enough to remove any dirt and dead skin cells. In general terms, the only soap that needs to be used is for dirty hands and feet, and even shampoo is optional for hair washing.
Step 7: Get some sun
-
That's right, sunshine is good for our skin in small doses. We're not suggesting here that you spend all day sunbathing but as you know is the
interaction of the sun on our skin which is needed to generate vitamin D. The best option here is to spend 10 or 15 minutes naked in the morning sun
before it gets too hot and begins to burn your skin.
Step 8: Love your body
|

Wash with warm water and rinse with cold. |
- Self-love is vital to our ongoing health and wellness.
- If we cannot love ourselves, and we cannot fully care for ourselves
either.
- Self-love is not in vain narcissistic action, it is about being conscious
of body and self and doing what is best for our long-term survival and this is
where the incentive to care for our bodies comes from.
Conclusion
Our skin contains and is part of the complete package that we know as our human body. Therefore, it is helpful to see ourselves as whole and complete beings
and our skin as an integral part. If you want to give our body and our skin healthy, maybe we should take the tips passed down from our grandmothers
who often as a result of hardship could not afford all those promising chemical concoctions and by avoiding them, they aged beautifully gracefully.
When I speak of grandmothers, I am not talking about the Joan Rivers of this world who used every artificial trick in the book and while laying almost pulled it off
there surgically enhanced appearance never matched what they could have had by natural means the more sensible lifestyle.
